ARIZONA NEWS UPDATE


Gov. Doug Ducey issued an executive order requiring bars, gyms, theaters and water parks to shut down June 29. The order follows mounting pressure to respond to ballooning COVID-19 numbers that followed his accelerated reopening plan, which he announced in May.


Arizonans have been, by and large, terrific, fantastic and responsible," the governor said.

Los Angeles County public health officials on Sunday announced a record high number of corona virus-related infections, recording 3,187 new cases Friday — the highest daily total since the pandemic began — and a three-day total of 7,232 infections and 30 related deaths, numbers that account for Thursday, Friday and Saturday of last week.


Bars and indoor dining remain off-limits as officials attempt to control the spread of the corona virus.


The city of Chicago fined five businesses for violating social distancing rules aimed at curbing the corona virus over the weekend and also shut down the operator of a Lake Michigan party boat.


The measures followed threats Chicago Mayor Lori Light foot made on Friday to shut down bars that violated restrictions during a conference call with hundreds of local business owners.


Standing in front of a group of Chicago police recruits, Superintendent David Brown wanted to ensure that the soon-to-be police officers understood the gravity and importance of their choosen career.

Brown addressed the recruits Monday morning at the Police Academy at 1300 W. Jackson Blvd.


The recruits resumed their training at the facility this week with social distancing and safety precautions in place.

infections from the virus, the bio pharmaceutical industry is providing financial support and in-kind donations to organizations and collaborating with U.S. and global health authorities to combat this global public health emergency.


More than half of PhRMA members have R&D for potential treatments and vaccines under way or are providing donations of medicines and critical medical supplies as well as providing financial donations to support patients and first respondents in addressing this evolving crisis.
